The theme throughout this weeks’ assemblies has been Student Voice. Throughout the week, students have been communicated to, and educated about, the upcoming opportunities that they will have to share their voice and opinions at both an academy and national level. During the week of Monday 5th – Friday 9th February, all students will have the opportunity to complete our annual academy review survey. After completing this survey, students will also get the opportunity to vote for two candidates in the upcoming UK Youth Parliament elections and to vote for one campaign that holds a particular interest to them in the ‘Make Your Mark’ scheme. All students have also been presented with the opportunity to become a BCP council ‘Make Your Mark Champion’ (students are to let their tutor know of their interest in this in order to gain access to the online form that needs filling to officially register their interest).
During our fortnightly student leadership meeting on Tuesday 16th January, we were visited by BCP Youth Development worker Rebecca McDade. Rebecca led a seminar on all things UK Youth Parliament and ‘Make Your Mark’. We are really happy to have established a better working relationship with BCP Youth Development and look forward to all of the opportunities and experiences that this will present to our students along the way.
Finally, we would like to wish good luck to Y11 Head Prefect Ryan Cornish who will be standing as a candidate in the upcoming UK Youth Parliament elections. Best of luck Ryan, the whole of Magna Academy is right behind you!
