Magna Academy came together as a community for Remembrance Day. The whole Academy gathered on the running track where the Year 11 Head Prefects, Connie T and Ryan C, read The Exhortation and the Last Post was played by Miss Giles. Students demonstrated exemplary behaviour throughout and many staff and students found the ceremony very moving.
Throughout the week, each year group has also received an assembly during tutor time from the Head of History, Miss Stannard. The theme was ‘Service’, looking at the role of people from the Commonwealth in World War II with a resource prepared by Miss Croker. Students have also had the opportunity to take part in a competition to design a badge to commemorate Remembrance Day, organised by Mr Molloy. A team of student volunteers did a great job selling poppies throughout the week.
Finally, we’ve been lucky to receive a donation of a Tommy Figure from the Broadstone British Legion to help remember all those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict around the world. This has been installed in the History department this week.
