Background and Experience
Born and raised in Bournemouth, I knew that I wanted to live and work within this fantastic area. After studying History at Brunel University in London, I returned determined to succeed in becoming a History teacher, a decision that I had made for my future while being inspired by my own History teacher during A Levels. After returning, I completed a Graduate Teacher Programme at two local Poole schools, where I then became qualified to teach my passion and I have been lucky enough to work at Magna Academy since.
In the past 11 years of working at Magna, I have been able to instil my love of History each day in the classroom while also fulfilling wider Academy responsibilities such as: Lead Practitioner, Head of Year and Senior Head of House. Each of these opportunities has underpinned my belief in the significance and value of a truly inclusive environment, ensuring that all students are supported to achieve their best outcomes. I believe that in order for our students to thrive, they need to feel respected and valued while also supported to be the best that they can.
Now in my role as Assistant Principal I am in the privileged position to lead on such initiatives and work closely with the fantastic team of pastoral staff that are dedicated each day to supporting our students. I truly feel I have the best role which enables me to dedicate my time to both my academic and pastoral passions.
Three Personal Values
- Treat others as you would wish to be treated
- Determination will help you succeed no matter how difficult the challenge is
- Be your best advocate; a belief in yourself goes a long way
