This week students in KS4 and 5 have been finding out more about higher education. Oxford and Cambridge typically have high expectations for their applicants, as they seek to admit students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine passion for their chosen field of study. Students across Years 10-12 learnt this with a virtual presentation from Oxbridge admissions.
Additionally, Year 12 has been on two visits. Year 12 visited the local UCAS exhibition at Bournemouth University. UCAS exhibitions are valuable opportunities for Year 12 students to explore higher education options and gather information about universities, colleges, and other educational institutions. These events often feature representatives from various universities and colleges who can provide information about courses, entry requirements, campus life, and more.
Furthermore, Year 12 went to visit both Southampton University and Southampton Solent University providing students with a chance to compare two contrasting higher education institutions. Southampton University is a Russell Group University which typically requires the highest A-Level grades and Southampton Solent runs a wide variety of degree courses which are more industry based with grade requirements that are broader.
