Dorset Heath Partnership led an Arson Prevention workshop for Year 8 as a proactive initiative aimed at educating children about the dangers and consequences of arson, as well as strategies to prevent it. These workshops involved interactive sessions where children learn about fire safety, the importance of responsible behaviour around fire, and how to recognise and report suspicious activities related to arson.
The workshop covered topics such as the legal implications of arson, the potential harm it can cause to individuals and communities, and the environmental impact of wildfires. Students used their Power Skills when engaged in discussions and were empowered with the knowledge and skills to make responsible choices and to contribute to fire prevention efforts in their communities.
These workshops foster a sense of responsibility and awareness among students regarding fire safety, ultimately helping to reduce the incidence of arson and protect lives, biodiversity and property.
