Over the course of this Autumn Term, the Student Leadership Team has continued to build on the momentum created during the last academic year and has now expanded further once more. We now have a team of over 100 student leaders. All of us at Magna Academy would like to congratulate the new Year 11 Head/Deputy Prefects, Year 12 Vice Presidents, Year 10 House Captains, Years 7-13 Sports Captains and all of the new Tutor Representatives and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors on their new appointments and welcome them to the Student Leadership Team.
In terms of what the team have been working on during this Autumn Term; we have now fully established new ‘Tutor Suggestion Boxes’ for each tutor group. This idea was born last year, with several of our students using the allocated student voice platforms to communicate that a suggestion box in each tutor group would act to facilitate an increase in student voices becoming heard and therefore more action and improvements being implemented. Each of our Tutor Representatives will now be responsible for managing their own tutor groups’ boxes by bringing suggestions to fortnightly student leadership meetings for further discussion.
The Sixth Form Presidency team have also set up our annual ‘Christmas Hamper’ campaign in support of the Bournemouth Food Bank appeal to help local families in crisis to celebrate Christmas together. Each tutor group has been supplied with a cardboard donations box and we have asked students for their kindness and generosity in donating any 500g jars of long life pasta/curry sauce. Each donation is rewarded with 5 House Achievement Points (HAPs) and the tutor group who wins the hamper decoration house competition (as judged by the Presidency Team) will win a ‘festive reward’ during the last day of term.
