Following a competitive application process, Year 10 drama student Lewis McNeil, has been successful in securing a place on the industry-led ‘Young Technician’s Programme’ at the Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.
This will be a fun, practical and immersive learning experience where Lewis will learn various industry skills focusing on sound, lighting, directing, stage management and production as well as what it takes to put on a professional show. Lewis will be at the Lighthouse for 4 hours each Saturday, starting this November. He will be working towards his final project in February 2022.
Lewis has always had a keen eye for the technical aspect of theatre since joining Magna Academy and is a valued member of the production team, taking on the role of Stage Manager for Matilda Jr, which is currently in rehearsal.
Upon completing this course, Lewis has promised to share his new found skills, preparing the next generations of stage technicians here at Magna Academy. Lewis wants to continue his studies in our new Sixth Form course for Theatre Production, that will begin upon completion of our newly refurbished performance studio. Further to this, Lewis hopes to carry on his studies after his time at Magna Academy and go to university to study Technical Theatre.
Congratulations Lewis and we wish you all the best! We cannot wait to see what you produce for your final project.
