At Magna Academy, we are committed to providing a caring, friendly, safe and inspiring environment for all our students; so, they can learn in a safe and secure atmosphere.

Bullying is an anti-social behaviour and affects everyone.

All types of bullying are unacceptable at our academy and will not be tolerated. All students should feel able to speak with a member of staff or an Anti-Bullying Ambassador if they experience bullying or observe bullying taking place. When bullying is brought to our attention, prompt and effective action is taken. You can read our Anti Bullying Policy by clicking on the Additional Reading link at the bottom of this page.

No one should underestimate the impact that bullying can have on a person’s life. It can cause high levels of distress, affecting young people’s well-being, behaviour, academic and social development right through into adulthood.  Please report any bullying to: antibullying@magna-aspirations.org.

Friendship Issues

On occasion, some students may get confused between friendship issues and bullying.

Occasionally students think their relationship with others has started to change thus start doubting friend’s honesty, integrity, and sincerity. The suspicions create a general feeling of mistrust. Students might mistrust their friend based on his or her actions or words, which they think are not in their best interests. This can also be fuelled by others in a friendship group, resulting in feelings of exclusion.

Friendship issues can and could take the form of many of the following:

  • Manipulation
  • Mistrust
  • Jealousy
  • Betrayal
  • Differences
  • Conflicts
  • Bad Company
  • Non-commitment

Interpersonal relationships at all times in life may turn sour, usually due to misunderstandings or poor communication. It happens in student friendships too.

There are various kinds of problems students may face but the good thing is that every problem has a solution. Friends can get over their friendship problems through proper communication.

The Academy’s Personal Development Programme is designed to build resilience and confidence around friendships. It is delivered through Tutor time and assemblies. Students are also able to access support with friendship issues from professionals across the academy and within the Phoenix team at Magna Academy.
