Magna Academy recently celebrated its annual Cook Off, which concluded with a hotly contested final. Nearly all the finalists chose to present a different dish than the one they had prepared in the qualifying round. Many students dedicated the intervening days to perfecting their signature dishes, providing Ms. Fielding with numerous sample attempts to critique.
The judging panel for the final remained consistent with the previous round to maintain high standards of quality. The judges – Ms. Hornby, Mr. Woodland, Ms. Chivers, and Mr. Sinclair, evaluated the entries based on taste and presentation. Competitors, along with their families and supporters, gathered in the open technology area, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners.
The finalists included:
- Summer H, Year 7
- Immie M, Year 7 (Bake Off Winner – Prizes included a personalised winners apron, a spatula and a whisk)
- Kaitlyn D O and Kyra W, Year 8
- Melissa C, Year 8 (3rd Place – Prizes included oven gloves, a spatula, a whisk some cup cases and cookie cutters)
- Jamie K, Year 9 (2nd Place – Prizes included oven gloves, a spatula, a whisk some cup cases and cookie cutters)
Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work and creativity. Each contestant was rewarded with a keyring, pen, and certificate to commemorate their efforts. Special kudos go to our winner, Immie, who was praised for her exquisitely crafted salted caramel brownie. The event highlighted the impressive culinary talents of Magna Academy students and the enduring spirit of friendly competition within our culture.
