On Monday, twenty-five determined athletes from Magna Academy braved the wet and windy conditions at Kings Park Athletics Stadium for the annual Town Sports Athletics School Championships. Despite the gloomy weather, the spirits were high and the excitement was palpable as the events kicked off.
The morning session was packed with remarkable performances. Highlights included Favour C’s victory in the Year 10 Girls Shotput, Sophie V’s excellent hurdling in the Year 9 Girls heat, and Ashton C’s impressive bronze medal finish in the Year 9 Boys 200m.
The momentum continued into the afternoon. The Year 8 Boys relay team, consisting of Bailey H, Henry L, Albert M, and Sam B, dominated their heat with a significant lead. Bethany H also shone brightly, securing a close second place in the Year 8 Girls Javelin.
A huge congratulations to all the athletes who participated in this year’s Town Sports events. You have made the entire academy proud. The PE department has collectively decided to honour the entire Year 8 Athletics team as the “Magna Athletics Team of the Year” for their outstanding display of pride, enthusiasm, resilience, and bravery. They eagerly participated in numerous events and achieved remarkable success throughout the day.
